Happy Easter!

Eric's family came to visit and we went to the Zoo!

Clare was not quite as fond of the birds as they were of her.
We hunted for eggs in our yard, and Clare's facial expressions were just TOO MUCH!!
Love her.
Maggie just moves too fast to get a picture. We'll try again next year.
Happy Easter!!

Another Liebster? THANK YOU! :))

So I feel like a complete dunce. Rosie also tagged me for a Liebster and for some reason I didn't see it. Which is weird because I usually read her posts as soon as they come out and a lot of times I share them with Eric. Her kids say some really cute and hysterical things. So, thank you Rosie!!
Since I already did the 5 things about myself (Seriously one of the hardest things) and nominated 5 people I think I will just answer your questions. Is that cool? Cool.

1.  If you had to choose only ONE animal (cow, pig, chicken, other) whose meat/products you could eat for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?
Chicken. You can do so much with it and it marinates really well.

2.  What is your favorite article of clothing, the one you would seriously miss if it were gone?
My skinny jeans and boots. :))

3.  Which one of your children do you love the most?
Depends on the moment, time of day, specific second you are asking.

3.  What do you tell your kids about Santa/the Easter Bunny/the tooth fairy/other secular(ized) characters?
We don't over emphasize them. Our kids know about them, but we try to not make it the big deal or the reason for the season.

4.  How many pairs of shoes do you own?
3 boots, 3 flats, 3 toms, 1 flip flop(s)? 1 tennis shoe
wow. almost all of those were gifts. Thank you, everyone!

5.  What is your favorite thing about where you live?
The amazing Catholic community. Seriously awesome.

6.  How did you choose your children's names?
Saints and Family names. Also, all of our kids will have a middle name that starts with an "A" it started out as an accident with Maggie and Clare so then Eric and I were like "hey lets have all of our kids have middle names that start with an "A". And then it became a challenge. And who doesn't like a challenge?
Margaret Adelle and Clare Angela
because now I know you were wondering what their middle names are. :))

7.  Can we all agree that it's obnoxious when parents make up new spellings for names?  Like Madisyn and Abagayle and McKinzEe?
Yes. Even though we added an "L" to Adelle and left the "i" out of Clare. :)

8.  Have you watched Toddlers and Tiaras?  Are you as intrigued by it as I am?  Give me your thoughts, please.
Once or twice. We don't have cable so I only watched a little on netflix.

9.  How many crucifixes/icons/saint statues do you have in your house?  Do you wish you had more/less?
heeheee. We have scaled down, but we currently have 4 crucifixes, 5 icons, and 5 saint statues. We are still putting them up, but we are trying to find really good places for them and avoid what happened at our last house. We also have 2 holy water fonts.

10.  What is one thing about your life right now that makes you ecstaticly happy?
Our new Pope! :))

5 Things & a Liebster!!

Lisa tagged me in this 5 things thing and Emily gave me a Liebster (internet blog award, cool, right?) so I guess I have to do it?! I am supposed to share 5 things about myself and then answer Emily's questions.
Thanks for the tags ladies!

This isn't that big of a secret, but I love decorating my house. For cheap. I just remodeled our guest room and never had to go to the store. The thrill of a good bargain is one of the best feelings!

I think I might be the opposite of a hoarder. If I look around our house and it is too cluttered I get the urge to just throw it all in the trash. Then, the cheap side of me comes out and is like "there is no way you are throwing things away!" internal war ensues and  in a few days my house will be reorganized.

I hate laundry. I try and try, but there is nothing I can do to stay on a good laundry schedule. I am convinced that if I mastered this my life would be so much more simpler. Any tips?

Eric and I have one of the most confusing "how we met, fell in love, got married, had kids" stories ever. And I love it. But it is just so hard to put into words because there is absolutely no way to shorten it. Every time I try to shorten it, I get asked more questions and then there I go onto a short story that borderlines novel.

I would LOVE to buy a dress from Shabby Apple, but I can never go through with it. The idea of spending that much on a dress (and online!) is enough to make me faint. Maybe one day I will do it. Most likely not though.

And now on to Emily's questions:

1. If you had to eat one thing or meal all day for a week, what would it be?
3 way tie? Chick-fil-a chicken nuggets with honey mustard sauce and a dr. pepper, Deer Steak, and Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole. Is that cheating?

2. When you get to go out by yourself (or with a friend/relative), what do you do? Or what would you want to do?
Shopping. More specifically bargain shopping at a thrift store and then go to eat somewhere.

3. Do you find your children have similar temperaments?
HA! They are day and night, but they mesh really well together (so far!)

4. Sweet or salty?

5. When you are with your husband, who usually drives? What about on longer road trips?
Eric usually drives. For a lot of reasons. :)

6. What's a "chore" that you secretly (or not so secretly) enjoy doing (I won't tell anyone)?
I really don't mind painting rooms. I love to see the progress and I just got done painting our guest room last night.

7. Are you a morning person or night owl?
Night owl who wishes she was a morning person.

8. What was the last book you read & was it any good (this is a selfish q, as I need some suggestions)?
Emma by Jane Austen. Another good one is Unplanned by Abby Johnson, but I think just about everyone has read that one by now!

9. If you could go on any vacation (expenses paid) with your kids & husband, where would you go? What would you do there?
ITALY! Do I really need to say what we would do?

10. I'm at your house. What would I see?
Lots of toys, some laundry and a lot of grey and blue walls. Oh and whites I love white!

So I am turning right around and nominating

Lisa (I know you have most likely already gotten a Liebster, but here you go!)

Billie Jo

Mary and Christine @ Friendaversary

Here are your questions, and don't forget to nominate 5 people your selves and to share 5 things about yourself!!

1. Do you subscribe to any magazines, and if so what are they?

2. Best dessert you ever had?

3. If money didn't matter what is the one thing you would splurge on right now?

4. Dream vacay? DISH!

5. Share something that made you smile or LaughOutLoud today.

6. If there was one thing that you could learn how to do what would it be?

7. What are your hobbies?

8. Summer plans?

9. Do you hit the "snooze" button in the morning and if so how many times?

10. If your day had a soundtrack what would be the top 3 songs?

I'm back for more WIWS action!

Please excuse this sorry picture. I mean it is absolutely horrible. I don't know where on earth the spots came from, but I promise they weren't there in real life. The husband was working, so I had no choice, I had to go with the incredibly awkward mirror shot. Some people have mastered this art and clearly I am not one of them.

One last thing and then I will shut up about taking your own picture in the mirror. It is always so creepy to stare at the camera lens in the mirror. It's just too much ya'll. I can't take it.
This, folks is as good as it gets. *sigh*

Shirt: Bealls
Skirt: Banana Republic
Tights: ?
Shoes: New York & Co.
Necklace: New York & Co.

Yes, my pencil skirt is pink and has pockets. It is perfect. :))

Going to throw in a picture of my girls watching a show, just 'cause I can. They were SO cute. I can not believe how big they are now!

Head on over to Fine Linen and Purple to check out what everyone else wore!

7 Quick Takes

How about Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI?! I love him. I was watching the video of the changing of the guard from when his resignation officially took place and I got a little weepy. I remember when he was elected Pope. It was my sophomore year of college and it was a Tuesday. My friends were keeping me busy that day because my Mom was having surgery. (she had breast cancer and is now in remission!) I was constantly talking to my Grandmother to get the 411 on my Mom. She called me instead with news of a new Pope. Then she said something I will never forget. "Hey, have you seen the new Pope? He's really cute!" And that is my very first memory of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

There is a church here in town that has an indoor playground. This is not your average playground. Do you know the rides that are some sort of animal that you pay money for your children to ride? This indoor playground as a room full of those rides. And they are FREE! (once you pay a small membership fee that also gives you access to their gym.) Anyways, it's kinda awesome for those cold days in winter and blistering hot days of summer.

Yep, every kids dream. The only problem is that the jig is up. Now when we pass these bad boys at the store the girls know they are supposed to move. Gone of the days of just sitting on them and me telling them that it is broken doesn't work very well. They know the truth.

Last weekend Eric mowed the grass for the first time in months and we discovered a leak. That leak led to our water being cut off for the rest of the weekend, which led to the discovery that we need to re-plumb our entire house. Wowzers.

Oh, the joys of home ownership. Ya'll, we are just living that american dream.

One of our favorite things to do around here is set up a little people town.

We have a lot of Little People toys, and yes Clare is still rockin' Christmas PJs. :))

The leeetle bit of "homeschooling" that we actually do every day:
(Picture taken on the 25th)

Maggie couldn't quite make it to her bed for her nap the other day before she fell asleep:

And finally, I will admit that the reason why Maggie has a band-aid on her forehead in the first few pictures is because she fell and hit her head on the corner of the wall. She was just so excited to go to the church playground that the took a turn too fast. Still has a shiner there and it happened last week. :/
At least she matched her band aid to her outfit, right? Always a lady.
(she didn't really need the band-aid, but it made her happy and made it look better!)

So everyone go have a great weekend and check out more quick takes over at Jen's!

Photo Dump: Pictures of the Girls for my Dad :))

It seems I have been neglecting the blog and more importantly depriving my family of pictures of my kids. So this is a post just for you. You're welcome. :))
We went to the rodeo recently and most of the pictures I took of the girls ended up like this:
Just missed them.

Best/Only picture of the two of them in their cute rodeo outfits:
Clare and Opa Dean (Eric's Dad):
Back at home on a rainy day:

Yet another rainy day tea party:

Somebody likes to wear their sunglasses at night and inside and in the rain and shine.

Here I am!

So there you have it. All the scandalous details of our life. Dad, are you good for another month? :))

DIY Farmhouse Bench

Remember our Farmhouse Table that Eric built? Well he has finished the bench and surprise! surprise! I think it's awesome. :)

Ever so slowly the house is coming together.
