Moving on up

I have been practically non existant in the blogoshere for awhile, but I think that is about to change. BIG time.

We have been busy at the Dietel house. 5 weeks ago we discovered that we (ahem Eric) needed to search for a new job. His old job still wanted him very much, but just couldn't afford us. Because, well let's just face it Eric and I are very extravagant people (HA!).
If you really want to know what happened just ask our lovely President of the US of A.
I wouldn't call insurance premiums almost doubling each month "affordable health care".

ANYWAYS, Eric quickly found a job about 6 hours away from his family and 8 hours away from mine. Still in the great state of Texas, thank goodness! We put our house on the market, it has sold and we have bought a home in our new city. We will be there at the very beginning of July.

Like I said, we have been busy!

That is the update for now, I guess I will throw in some cute pics of the girls who are getting oh so big!

bluebonnet season is upon us

And just like all other Texans it found us on the side of the road taking 46 pictures of 2 toddlers screaming. Oh wait, your kids weren't screaming, too? That was just my kids. Oh, sorry.

I thought I had preped for this photo op. but clearly I underestimated a few things:

1. We call Clare our little Miss Priss. Not just for fun, oh no she has earned that title. (with love!) Since she was a baby everytime we go into the backyard and I sit her down in the grass she first cries and then crawls to the a. deck b. playscape or c. swing. Whichever is the closest to her. There she remains for the duration of our play time.
So really looking back on it I shouldn't be that shocked that she didn't like being surrounded by 1 foot tall "weeds". (I am assuming that this is what my 1 year old was thinking.... she's got an amazing vocab.)

2. My 2 year old is a runner. No, make that a bolter. Give her an open space and she is gone. Unfenced parks, open doors, you name it. We have talked about it with her and it still happens. So again I shouldn't be surprised that this is the first thing she does when we get there:
At least it made for a cool shot!

I would have to say this is the best pic of Clare:

And this is the one where Maggie actually sat down long enough for me to snap a pic.

This; by, far is my favorite:

Yes, that is Maggie dancing/running behind Clare!

a little piece of heaven on earth

In an effort to have more playable outdoor space (in an environment where I won't pull my hair out) we have opened up the Garage.

That little fence do-hickey is AMAZING!

Best part? An old camping chair that reclines WITH a cupholder, just for me!

Clare's improved walking skills

I took this video about a week ago and just had to share it. Clare has gotten so good at walking and she is so proud of herself. Maggie is super excited for her and just a tad protective.
Warning: This video ends lik 99.9% of our home videos. Someone falls down and hits their head. No one, I repeat No one was hurt in the making of this video. :))

Maggie's Surgery and Good Friends

Maggie's surgery went well, she is recovering and at times is even (trying) to run. Then she complains that her foot hurts. Trying to explain to a 2.5 year old that it is not a good idea to run is just impossible.
We still don't know what exactly was in her foot, but it is being biopsed and we will find out at the follow up appointment.

And now, since I promised some pretty awesome people (2 weeks ago) that I would post about their visit I am going to do that. :))
My college friends Mary, Christine, and Rebecca came to town, and the girls could not have been more thrilled!

No, really they were excited. I know this pic suggests otherwise, but they LOVED them. We went to the Zoo and I think they were just a little overwhelmed in this pic! :))

Pretty much as soon as Rebecca walked in the door on Wednesday Clare attached herself to her hip. Seriously, these two were inseperable!

Christine and Maggie bonded.

And Mary informed me I needed to have a third child so she could have one, too.
But I just think she needs one of her own. ;)
(Josh don't kill me!)

They had a statue of an elephant and the people in the background where really upset that we decided to take some pictures. Since elephants (or Shu-Shu's as she calls them) are Maggie's all time favorites they can just get over it! ;)

Mary, Chistine, Rebecca, and Me!

We loved having ya'll and feel free to come back anytime!

7 Quick Takes (no. 5)

1. Maggie's surgery is scheduled for Monday. You may remember that we have been soaking her foot in hopes that this "thing" will come out on it's own and she won't have to have surgery. Well I have exciting news.... the "thing" is shrinking! Not only that, but it has worked it's way to the surface and I think it is coming out. We are still going to go in on Monday, but I am praying that the doctor will be so pleased with the progress made that she won't even have to have the surgery.
I really want to thank everyone who has been praying for Maggie. We appreciate it more than you know! :))
2. CLARE IS WALKING, FOR REAL!!!
I can not explain how happy I am to see her walk. Since it took so long it is even more exciting. She is pretty proud of herself, too!

3. Maggie broke my nose. How, you may ask? Snuggling gone bad.
When It happened I didn't think it was really broken, it wasn't til the next day that I realized the damage done. Cosmetically speaking it wasn't bad at all. The problem was I couldn't breathe through one nostril! So I took a trip to an ENT mostly because I didn't want to end up like Brainy from Hey Arnold!

Wow. that was very violent.
Are cartoons still this violent? Since my oldest is not even 3 I have no idea.
Anyways..... you get the picture, I didn't want to be a mouth breather for the rest of my life and have people punch my nose for being annoying only to end up with another broken nose. It would be a tragic, endless cycle. *sigh*

4. I thought the ENT would be a quick visit. WRONG! He told me I could either go under anesthesia to fix my nose or he could do it in the office. He continued to say that most of his patients went under anesthesia.

5. I thought that the anesthesia was just a tad extreme and that doing it in the office with face numbing injections would prep me for whenever we have our third child. I plan on going natural.
side note: If you haven't you should totally watch The Business of Being Born it's on netfix and just might change your life. Or at least make you think a little.
I don't think that having the doctor rearrange my face was good preparation for a natural birth. However, I am still happy I didn't go under anesthesia.
I can now breathe through my nose again and besides some slight discomfort it feels kinda like normal. :))

 6. I have some awesome new pictures of the girls, but apparently a side effect of me breaking my nose is laziness because I just can't seem to upload them to my computer.
